The paralegals work closely with clients, attorneys, paralegals, and accountants. The candidate should have excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills, including Excel. Paralegal Certification from an ABA-approved program is a plus.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must:
- Have a minimum of 3+ years of law firm experience and a background in the areas of Trusts and Estates.
- Extensive knowledge of Wills, Trusts, Power of Attorney forms, estate funding and general management of files
- Be proactive and able to assist with the preparation of legal documents, including Wills, Trusts, Health Care Proxies, Living Wills and Powers of Attorney and provide attorneys with administrative support.
- Strong knowledge of Surrogate’s Court rules and procedures (e.g., probate, administration, accounting proceedings) is essential.
- Familiarity with preparing estate tax returns is preferable.
- Candidate should enjoy working with clients and their families and pride themselves on attention to detail and organization.
- Excellent spelling, grammar and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and work both independently and as a team member.
- Experience with NetDocs a plus.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent proficiency of Word, Outlook and Excel is required.
- Paralegal certificate a plus.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Keeping cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; entering information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with attorney.
- Capture and record billable time in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Attending Will signings
- Exhibiting patience, empathy, and professional maturity at all times.
- Demonstrating an attitude of cooperation with legal staff, peers, and administrators.
