Job Summary
AMS Staffing has partnered with a well-established law firm seeking an experienced Attorney Lateral Recruiting & Integration Manager to lead and administer the attorney recruiting and integration process for the firm’s Atlanta and Philadelphia offices. This role will oversee lateral recruiting at both the Associate and Partner levels and will play an integral role in supporting the firm’s strategic growth initiatives. The position will also be responsible for developing and administering structured onboarding and integration programs to ensure the long-term success and retention of lateral hires. This position is based in Atlanta, Georgia, will collaborate with attorneys and business professionals across multiple offices, and will report to the firm’s Chief Operating Officer.
Lateral Partner Recruiting
- Collaborate with the Managing Shareholder, Practice Group Leaders, and firm leadership to support strategic lateral hiring goals.
- Advise leadership on best practices, processes, and workflows related to partner recruiting.
- Facilitate the lateral partner hiring process in partnership with Practice Group Leaders, the Managing Shareholder, and Chief Operating Officer.
- Manage communications with lateral partner prospects throughout the recruiting pipeline, including scheduling interviews, collecting financial and business information, soliciting feedback, and coordinating next steps.
- Manage partner candidates presented by external search firms, including negotiating search agreements, administering lateral partner questionnaires, and coordinating transition strategies and timelines.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with leading legal search firms and identify new recruiting partners and resources as appropriate.
Lateral Associate Recruiting
- Manage the lateral associate recruiting lifecycle from initial sourcing through offer acceptance in coordination with hiring partners and HR teams across the firm.
- Proactively identify and source attorney candidates through LinkedIn, social media, direct outreach, networking, and other recruiting channels.
- Manage and evaluate candidates submitted by external recruiting agencies.
- Gather, analyze, and communicate relevant attorney hiring and market intelligence.
- Coordinate interviews and callbacks between candidates and firm attorneys.
- Arrange travel and lodging for out-of-town candidates when necessary.
- Manage the offer letter process and assist hiring partners with offer negotiations.
- Participate in local and national legal recruiting organizations, including ALA and NALP, to remain current on attorney recruiting, onboarding, and professional development trends.
- Build and maintain a strong network of recruiting contacts, search firms, and vendors.
- Deliver an exceptional candidate experience throughout every stage of the recruiting process.
- Provide support for the firm’s Summer Associate Program and law school recruiting initiatives as needed.
Lateral Integration
- Design and administer structured onboarding and integration programs for incoming lateral partners and associates.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, IT, Marketing/Business Development, Practice Group Leaders, and other internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition.
- Conduct regular check-ins with lateral hires during their first 90–180 days to monitor integration, gather feedback, and proactively address challenges.
- Facilitate introductions and networking opportunities that help lateral attorneys develop relationships across practices and offices.
- Partner with Practice Group Leaders and sponsoring partners to monitor transition plans and support client and matter portability.
- Coordinate onboarding logistics, including systems access, orientation materials, mentor assignments, and attorney website/biography updates.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for lateral attorneys throughout the integration period, supporting engagement, retention, and long-term success.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of attorney recruiting experience within a law firm, legal recruiting agency, or similar environment required.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience with attorney recruiting Applicant Tracking Systems such as viRecruit, LawCruit, Flo Recruit, or comparable platforms required.
- Experience with attorney search and market intelligence platforms such as Leopard Solutions/List, Firm Prospects, Pirical, or similar tools required.
- Experience designing, administering, or supporting onboarding and integration programs for lateral attorneys strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the lateral attorney recruiting lifecycle, including associate and partner-level hiring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple searches, candidates, and projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of recruiting initiatives from inception through completion.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, firm leadership, candidates, search firms, and business professionals.
- Excellent judgment and discretion when handling confidential candidate, compensation, financial, and firm information.
- Tech-savvy with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Professional, collaborative, and service-oriented approach.
- Flexibility to travel to other firm offices and recruiting events as needed.
