Lateral Conflicts Analyst
We are seeking an experienced Lateral Conflicts Analyst to support conflict-of-interest reviews involving lateral attorneys, non-lawyer candidates, new clients and matters, RFPs, marketing requests, and special projects. The Analyst will evaluate conflicts reports, identify ethical and business risks, and partner with Conflicts Counsel, General Counsel, sponsoring attorneys, and Recruiting to facilitate timely resolution.
This role is available in any of our offices, which currently offer hybrid work arrangements. Fully remote work may be considered based on business needs and circumstances.
A minimum of two years of conflicts experience at a mid-size or large law firm is required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze conflicts reports involving lateral candidates, non-lawyer hires, new clients and matters, marketing requests, and special projects.
- Research corporate structures, affiliates, ownership, key principals, and business activities to identify potential ethical conflicts and business risks.
- Partner with Conflicts Counsel, Recruiting, sponsoring attorneys, and firm leadership to resolve conflicts and obtain appropriate waivers, screens, or other resolutions.
- Maintain accurate lateral candidate records and provide timely status updates throughout the clearance and onboarding process.
- Identify, evaluate, and escalate complex or sensitive conflicts and matter-opening issues to appropriate senior personnel.
- Review matter-opening requests for business conflicts, practice areas, billing and client-credit considerations, pro bono matters, and firm policy requirements.
- Assist with opening priority portable client matters for lateral partners following their arrival.
- Support Legal Recruiting by summarizing conflicts and business concerns and coordinating required clearance and screening procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of professional-responsibility rules, conflicts practices, industry developments, and emerging risk considerations.
- Recommend improvements to conflicts, intake, clearance, and risk-management policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.

Two or more years of law-firm conflicts experience required, preferably in a mid-size or large firm.
- Experience with conflicts or database-management software; Intapp Open strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and client-service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; strong internet and business research skills preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Dependable, responsive, and adaptable, with willingness to work additional hours as needed.
