Job Title: Tax Planning Legal Assistant

Location: Dallas, TX 75202

Salary/Payrate: $80-$99K annually

Work Environment: 100% ONSITE

Term: Permanent/Fulltime

Primary duties focus on providing legal administrative support to attorneys and peers in the tax planning section, document preparation and revision; work with attorneys to draft tax planning documents such as partnership agreements, acquisition and merger letters, and entity ownership flowcharts; draft and revise correspondence; transcribe dictation of voice mails; accurate proofreading skills; handle incoming and outgoing mail; receive incoming calls; set up conference calls; review monthly billing memos; open, manage and maintain client files/filing; calendar deadlines and appointments; make travel arrangements; enter attorney time; communicate effectively with all levels of internal personnel and clients. Requirements include: minimum of five years’ experience; must have a solid working knowledge of tax planning procedures; ability to draft will & trust forms; ability to manage multiple calendars; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); proficiency in E-Filing documents in Federal and State Courts; type a minimum of 80 wpm; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service skills and the ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others as part of a team; strong organizational skills; excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills. Individual must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have a high level of attention to detail, be a self-starter with initiative. This position may require some overtime on short notice.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Legal document preparation and revision;
  • Draft and revise correspondence;
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail;
  • Receive incoming calls, answer general questions and direct individuals to appropriate persons within the organization;
  • Set up conference calls;
  • Open, manage and maintain files/filing;
  • Schedule appointments and maintain calendar;
  • Arrange business itineraries and make travel arrangements; and
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of internal personnel.



Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years legal assistant experience;
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Type a minimum of 80 wpm;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong people skills and the ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others as part of a team;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, punctuation and proofreading skills;
  • Proven track record of dependability, dedication, confidential handling of all matters and outstanding work product
