Job Description:
A well-established boutique law firm working with High-Net-Worth clientele in Hunt Valley is seeking an experienced Trust & Estates Paralegal to support sophisticated estate and trust administration and fiduciary tax matters. This is not a basic estate planning role — the focus is on administration, tax filings, and trust organization work.
The firm is open to:
- Trust & Estates Paralegals seeking full-time or part-time schedules
- Attorneys looking to return to the workforce in a non-attorney capacity
Responsibilities
- Support attorneys with estate and trust administration matters
- Prepare and file probate and administration-related documents
- Maintain banking ledgers and compile asset inventories
- Assist with fiduciary tax filings, including:
- Form 706 (Estate Tax)
- Form 709 (Gift Tax)
- Form 1041 (Estate & Trust Income Tax)
- Draft estate and trust administration documents
- Coordinate with financial institutions and outside professionals
- Manage electronic and paper files
Additional Duties
- Assist with deed preparation and filings
- Proofread and format legal documents
- Prepare charts, summaries, and presentations
- Attend meetings and prepare detailed notes
- Conduct legal research and due diligence
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on trust and estate administration experience
- Strong probate and fiduciary process knowledge
- Experience with fiduciary tax returns (706/709/1041) required
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Comfortable working with financial platforms and new software
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
- Professional, discreet, and dependable
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Experience with complex estates and trust structures
- Knowledge of Federal and Maryland estate tax procedures
- Trust accounting or fiduciary reporting experience
- Crummey trust experience
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas)
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
