Term: Full Time

Job Description:
Our client, a leading national law firm, is seeking a Senior eBilling Analyst to take ownership of the firm's electronic billing process and help make it work better.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced legal billing or eBilling professional who understands that successful eBilling is about more than submitting invoices. You know how to look at the entire process, identify where things are breaking down, figure out why invoices are being rejected or delayed, and work with the right people to fix the problem.
The firm currently outsources a significant portion of its eBilling function to a third-party provider. In this role, you will serve as the firm's internal eBilling subject-matter expert and primary operational contact for the vendor, working closely with the Senior Billing Manager to ensure the outsourced function is performing as it should.
You will not manage a team. Instead, you will use your knowledge, analytical skills, and ability to influence others to improve the process, resolve complex issues, reduce billing obstacles, and ultimately help the firm get paid faster.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own the day-to-day oversight of the firm's eBilling process and help ensure invoices move efficiently from submission through acceptance and payment.
- Monitor invoice submissions, rejections, appeals, reductions, and payment activity to identify problems and revenue at risk.
- Work closely with the firm's outsourced eBilling provider to resolve issues, address backlogs, and improve service delivery.
- Serve as the escalation point when eBilling issues become complex or recurring.
- Investigate why invoices are being rejected, delayed, or reduced and determine what can be done to prevent the issue from happening again.
- Troubleshoot issues involving client billing guidelines, timekeeper approvals, rates, budgets, task codes, matter setup, documentation, and other billing requirements.
- Partner with attorneys, billing, collections, finance, pricing, and other internal teams to remove billing obstacles.
- Monitor vendor performance and hold the provider accountable for agreed-upon service levels, quality, turnaround times, and deliverables.
- Analyze rejection and reduction trends and recommend changes that improve invoice acceptance and revenue realization.
- Help identify bottlenecks and gaps in the current eBilling workflow and develop more efficient processes.
- Support new client and matter onboarding, including billing requirements, payer guidelines, system setup, and testing.
- Help maintain and improve eBilling workflows, procedures, controls, and escalation processes.
- Develop and maintain reporting around invoice status, rejection rates, aging, acceptance rates, vendor performance, and revenue at risk.
- Participate in system implementations, process redesign, testing, and other eBilling initiatives.
- Work with the Senior Billing Manager to identify opportunities to improve the overall billing and collections cycle.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who has lived in the legal billing/eBilling world and understands how all the pieces connect.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of billing or eBilling experience within a law firm environment.
- Aderant and BillBlast experience are required.
- Strong experience with high-volume insurance billing. EPLI experience is highly preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of electronic invoice submission, rejection resolution, appeals, client billing guidelines, and revenue-cycle processes.
- Experience working with an outsourced billing or eBilling provider.
- Strong understanding of how billing, collections, attorneys, clients, insurers, and finance all intersect.
- The ability to look beyond fixing an individual invoice and identify the underlying process problem causing the issue.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
- The ability to influence and drive results without having direct supervisory authority.
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills are a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
