The Docketing Paralegal plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the firm’s docketing and calendaring system. This position is responsible for the timely calculation, entry, updating, and monitoring of all critical deadlines and legal dates related to litigation and transactional matters. The Docketing Paralegal works closely with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to ensure all calendared events comply with court rules, internal procedures, and client expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurately calculate, distribute, and update deadlines, hearing dates, trial dates, and other critical information for the firm’s docketing system.
- Review and interpret court rules, legal documents, and notices to determine applicable deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local court rules and procedures.
- Regularly audit and maintain the integrity of docket entries to ensure data accuracy.
- Respond to docketing-related inquiries from attorneys and staff promptly and professionally.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the firm’s docketing procedures and training documentation.
- Communicate effectively with court clerks, vendors, and internal departments when necessary.
- Provide administrative support for legal teams related to calendaring and document processing.
- Other duties as assigned to support legal operations and workflow efficiency.
Education and Experience:
- Paralegal Certificate, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior experience in a legal environment, especially in docketing or calendaring roles.
- Familiarity with legal terminology, court rules, and procedures.
Technical Skills:
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to quickly learn new software and adapt to process improvements.
