Job Title: Paralegal

Location: Decatur, Georgia 30034 

Salary/Payrate: $55K–$65K, bonuses based on performance metrics (e.g., demands, discovery propounded), comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, and paid time off.

Work Environment: Onsite Eligible for 1 day work from home after 2 years

Term: Permanent / Fulltime

Referral Fee: AMS will pay $500 should the person you refer gets hired

The Paralegal supports attorneys and the legal team by managing cases from intake through resolution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, client-centered, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong communication skills, professionalism, empathy, and the ability to multitask.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Case Management & Workflow Support
  • Manage civil rights, personal injury, and wrongful death matters throughout the case lifecycle.
  • Open and organize new client files, ensuring all required documents are collected, reviewed, and accurately entered into the case management system.
  • Move cases efficiently from intake to pre-litigation, litigation, settlement, and closing.
  • Maintain updated case notes, documents, and communications in Needles.
  • Client Care & Communication
  • Communicate with clients consistently, professionally, and compassionately.
  • Explain processes such as intake, treatment protocols, litigation stages, settlement procedures, and ACH payments in accessible terms.
  • Respond promptly to questions and proactively follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Maintain a positive client experience throughout the case.
  • Discovery, Document Preparation & Legal Support
  • Assist attorneys with discovery, including drafting and responding to requests.
  • Organize, summarize, and track evidence and documents.
  • Prepare and file legal pleadings, correspondence, and other documents with accuracy.
  • File documents via Odyssey, PeachCourt, and PACER/CM-ECF.
  • Scheduling & Coordination
  • Schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials.
  • Coordinate effectively with clients, attorneys, court staff, experts, and opposing counsel.
  • Maintain attorney calendars and monitor deadlines.
  • Intake Support
  • Conduct thorough Intake interviews and collect necessary documents.
  • Assign case managers and ensure new cases move into pre-litigation within established timelines.
  • Maintain accurate intake notes and refer clients to treatment as needed.
  • Settlement & Closing Support
  • Assist with settlement calculation, lien resolution, and provider reductions.
  • Generate client and provider checks and maintain accuracy in QuickBooks.
  • Explain the ACH process clearly and follow up to ensure timely completion of disbursements.
  • Upload releases, checks, and other closing documents to Needles.
  • Attention to Detail & Compliance
  • Ensure that all documents, filings, and financial entries are accurate.
  • Scan, upload, and organize all materials in Needles or other systems.
  • Maintain complete, orderly, and compliant case files.
  • Team Collaboration & Firm Culture
  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, case managers, and administrative staff.
  • Contribute to a professional, culturally grounded, and mission-aligned work environment.
  • Receive and implement feedback constructively.
  • Technology Proficiency
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with Needles, Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and e-filing systems.
  • Adapt quickly to new technology or tools required for legal operations.



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Exposure to relevant legal work through internship experiences in personal injury, civil rights, premises
  • liability, wrongful death, or related legal practice areas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
