Location: New York, NY 10019

Salary/Payrate: $130K-$140K annually W2, bonus and AWESOME benefits!!!

Work Environment:  Hybrid (4-days onsite, 1 remote)

Term: Permanent / Fulltime

Job Description:

Our client, an AMLaw 50 firm, is looking to hire a Legal Billing Supervisor in New York City. This is a full time, direct hire role paying an annual salary of $130K to $140K plus a performance-based bonus and excellent benefits package. The role requires a bachelor’s degree and will allow for remote work one day a week.

 

 


Responsibilities:

  • Directly overseeing and supervising a dedicated team of Billing Specialists/Billers, including monitoring workloads, providing guidance and support, and ensuring appropriate coverage to meet billing deadlines.
  • Overseeing preparation of high‑volume monthly, quarterly, and transactional invoices, including compilation of documentation to meet the demands of assigned clients.
  • Monitoring team productivity and workflow to ensure bills are prepared accurately, reviewed timely, and submitted in accordance with client and firm deadlines.
  • Preparing complex and time‑sensitive invoices and supporting analysis.
  • Working closely with Billing Specialists responsible for assigned Partners / Clients’ billing needs and coordinating workflow to ensure tasks are completed promptly and efficiently.
  • Providing ongoing coaching, training, and mentoring to Billing Specialists.
  • Delegating work appropriately based on workload, complexity, and skill level, and rebalancing assignments as needed.
  • Ensuring all invoices prepared by the team comply with assigned Clients’ billing guidelines, rate structures, and special arrangements.
  • Proactively monitoring unbilled time, disbursements for assigned Partners / Clients, and following up with the team and stakeholders as needed.
  • Ensuring that appropriate supporting documentation is provided to clients with invoices.
  • Acting as an escalation point for billing issues, questions, or discrepancies raised by Attorneys, Clients, or team members.
  • Preparing and delivering detailed reports and analyses as requested by Billing Managers, Clients, Partners, Revenue Managers, or leadership.
  • Partnering with Revenue Managers to support end‑to‑end inventory management.
  • Working directly with clients on billing operational issues to support strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Participating in special projects and assignments, as needed.

 


 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant billing experience within a large law firm.
  • Experience with Aderant required.
  • Proven ability to review, coordinate, and supervise the work of others.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, and comfortable interacting with personnel at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours as needed.
  • Team‑oriented with a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to support department goals.
