Job Description:
Our client, one of the most respected mid-size commercial litigation, transactional law, government relations, and public affairs firms in the NYC area, is looking to hire a Bankruptcy attorney at their offices in White Plains, NY. This is a full time, permanent role paying an annual base salary of $75K to $85K plus a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organized Bankruptcy & Commercial Litigation Paralegal to support a busy practice representing creditors, debtors, lenders, investors, trustees, and other stakeholders in complex bankruptcy, restructuring, insolvency, and commercial litigation matters.
The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys on a broad range of Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcies, reorganizations, out-of-court workouts, foreclosures, distressed asset matters, and related litigation in federal and state courts throughout New York.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in all phases of bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Prepare, review, organize, and file pleadings, motions, notices, claims, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
- Manage electronic court filings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts and U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as New York State courts.
- Maintain case calendars, monitor deadlines, and track court appearances, hearings, and motion schedules.
- Review court dockets.
- Assist with discovery, document management, and production.
- Coordinate with clients, court personnel, trustees, opposing counsel, and third-party vendors.
- Assist with trial, hearing, mediation, and deposition preparation.
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files.
Qualifications
- Prior paralegal experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, creditors’ rights, insolvency, commercial litigation, or related practice areas preferred. Minimum 3 years experience.
- Familiarity with federal and state court procedures, including bankruptcy court practice.
- Experience with CM/ECF electronic filing systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systems.
- Paralegal certificate and/or relevant undergraduate degree preferred.
