JOB DESCRIPTION


The Manager of Pricing and Data Analytics will build out and maintain our pricing function by managing our matter budgeting / tracking software and assisting our legal team with the creation of thoughtful and detailed matter budgets and rate requests. This role will expand our use of our Elite 3e system to improve matter budget hygiene, capture quantitative and qualitative fee arrangement pricing schemas, and facilitate rate querying abilities. The role will also drive the Firmwide annual rate setting process by querying information from various sources, compiling key data points, aligning offsetting cost metrics, interpreting findings, and sharing proposals / final presentations with senior leadership and the Billing Rate Committee.


In addition, the role will lead an overall data normalization, standardization, and white-space population initiative within Elite 3E and work closely with the Manager of Finance Department Systems to migrate key reporting metrics from SSRS to Power BI. These outputs will reshape our current reporting processes to allow for more streamlined, uniform, scalable reporting that enables our finance and legal team to spend more time analyzing data while requiring less time for independent multi-sourced data gathering. This role will not only drive this initiative but also manipulate data to allow for insightful analyses and forward-thinking presentations.




ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Oversee operation of matter budgeting software and work with our legal team to create / maintain matter budgets and create threshold alerts with same
  • Assist legal and business development teams with pricing requests and perform market analyses to ensure competitive standing among peer firms
  • Oversee annual Firmwide rate setting process by performing internal and market analyses, aligning with finance leadership on proposed changes, and presenting findings to senior leadership for final approval
  • Work closely with the Rates and Pricing Specialist and manage the reporting and analysis of rate information, discounts, and other relevant pricing information
  • Assist internal and client-facing colleagues with ad-hoc data requests and deploy financial dashboards/reports as necessary
  • Lead data improvement initiative within Elite 3E, define / utilize opportunities for improved data delivery leveraging “pull methods”, and guide development of future data improvement initiatives within Elite 3e and other Finance platforms
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Finance Department Systems to migrate financial reports from Excel, PowerPoint, and SSRS to Power BI and assist with design of new Power BI dashboards as needed
  • Oversee and validate data quality of all reporting output by the FP&A team including, but not limited to, dashboards, periodic financial reports, matter budgets / fee estimates, ad-hoc requests, and surveys
  • Work with the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis & Pricing as a thought partner on improving internal processes, providing insights and analyses to leadership and our legal team, and developing the FP&A department
  • Assist other members of the accounting department in data gathering and/or dashboard navigation
  • Assist with the streamlining of 3rd party survey completion and validate submission data
  • Assist with the data validation between different repositories to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Answer ad-hoc data requests for internal and client-facing colleagues
  • Work on additional projects and assignments as requested by the Chief Operating Officers, the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis & Pricing, other Firm management, and attorneys




QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Proficiency with SQL, Elite 3E, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Proficiency with SSRS and Power BI reporting platforms preferred
  • Proficiency with data integration skills / languages including VBA and XML preferred
  • Experience with professional services operational model preferred
  • Experience with legal industry preferred
  • Experience with financial analytics / P&L dependent levers and scenario modelling preferred
  • Experience with gathering, organizing, and manipulating large data sets required
  • Possesses excellent organization skills with keen attention to detail
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possesses strong analytical, evaluative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Possesses curiosity and demonstrates initiative to investigate anomalies or unusual data trends
  • Maintains organized folders, reports, data sets, and supporting presentation data that allows others to navigate them easily
