JOB DESCRIPTION
The Legal Assistant candidate will be expected to work as a team player and utilize their experience and judgment to assist with supporting the team’s efforts.
Candidates must have 5 years of legal secretary experience, show initiative, have excellent organizational skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and be proficient with technology, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe) and other litigation software. On the job training will also be provided.
Experience in construction litigation a plus!
- Ability to support multiple attorneys to deliver high quality client service, internally and externally Management of various calendars, scheduling orders and deadlines therein Maintain electronic and physical files
- Open and close new clients/matters Scheduling depositions of parties and/or experts
- Prepare and submit expense reimbursements, schedule meetings, travel, etc.
- Possess basic legal research skills such as Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis Experience in all phases of the litigation process
- Draft, revise, proofread correspondence and other legal documents
- Be able to show initiative, prioritize, meet deadlines, adaptable to fluctuating priorities and deadlines, and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
- Be able to navigate electronic databases and documents for organization, review, and/or summary
- Be enthusiastic about learning and strong interpersonal skills for interaction with all firm personnel, clients, outside counsel, and vendors
- Demonstrate initiative and exercise professional judgment, and proactively communicate with team members
- Be proficient in efiling, managing and navigating matters and pleadings in Louisiana state and federal courts
- Ability to effectively set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects for several attorneys
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptionally well organized and detail oriented
