Job Description:
Our client is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Litigation Associate Attorney to join its legal team. This attorney will manage complex construction-related disputes, provide strategic legal counsel, and advocate for clients involved in construction projects, contractual disagreements, commercial matters, personal injury claims, and related litigation.
The ideal candidate will have one to five years of litigation experience, strong legal research and writing abilities, and an interest in developing or expanding their construction litigation practice. This is an excellent opportunity to work on sophisticated matters, collaborate with experienced attorneys, and gain meaningful responsibility throughout the litigation process.
Responsibilities:
- Manage construction and commercial litigation matters through all phases of the litigation lifecycle.
- Participate in pre-suit investigations, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, trial preparation, and case resolution.
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, contracts, settlement agreements, and other legal documents.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other legal research platforms.
- Analyze statutes, court rules, procedural requirements, and relevant case law to support litigation strategies.
- Prepare for and participate in depositions, including developing questioning strategies, preparing witnesses, and analyzing testimony.
- Assist with and attend hearings, court appearances, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
- Advocate for clients through persuasive written motions, oral arguments, court appearances, and negotiations.
- Communicate directly with clients to understand their objectives, provide strategic advice, and deliver timely case updates.
- Collaborate with partners, associates, paralegals, expert witnesses, and other professionals on complex litigation matters.
- Maintain accurate and organized case records while ensuring compliance with court rules, procedural requirements, and filing deadlines.
- Manage multiple cases and competing priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar.
- One to five years of litigation experience.
- Experience in construction litigation, construction defects preferred.
- Strong understanding of civil procedure, discovery, motion practice, and litigation strategy.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.
- Experience preparing pleadings, motions, discovery materials, and other litigation documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time-management, negotiation, and client-service abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, competing priorities, and court deadlines.
- Experience with depositions, hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, or trial preparation is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with LexisNexis, Westlaw, and standard legal technology.
